I am so proud of my 4 dogs. But mostly about Decota.
As most of you know we go away fro weekends with the dogs and let them off lead and it's
90% of the time without any problems. But Decota is not to good off lead if it's just for a few minutes at the beach or a park. But last night after the heat of the day we took them to a sports ground and let all 4 off them off lead. There where birds other dogs and humans around us and they all came back to us with a perfect re call even though they knew they where going back to the truck. We had so much fun and so did they :D I must add that a while back our gate went open because of the builders. Decota was in the yard and the other 3 where in side the house. When I realised that the gate was open I went into the house to see who was still inside and realised that Decota was not in the house and when I rushed out to go and find him he was standing by the then closed gate which I closed before going in the house waiting for me to open the gate for him so that he could come back in. I can't believe this is my wild "child". But my guard is not down

Ice

Yea!!!
Which came first, the trust or the training?
If you never give your dog a chance to screw up, guess what? They may never screw up, but they will also never learn NOT to screw up.

Actually, you can try really hard to never give your dog a chance to screw up, but Murphy's Law states that they will, at the worst possible moment!

The joy of dog mushing (for me) is to have a semi-controlled environment that allows the dogs to have fun and teach each other, and then be able to promote an "untrained" dog into a position of control and see that they have been paying attention and CHOOSE to think and comply with cues in order to advance the "Game."

There are no bad dogs, only bad trainers and untrusting partnerships.

(Can I delete the duplicate post?!)

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody. Gotta go thaw a pumpkin pie to add to the dog's water for bait! (I got a case of frozen ones that had thawed from the food bank...dogs LOVE the flavor!)
