I am doing our first rally in november, well with the dogs i have now anyway, i have entered me & kavik in a rally in november , in the bikejor class, should be exciting. He runs great alone now & just keeps running, he runs in lead now too infront of sisko & mishka when they run together.
Here is the link to the race, there will be all sleddog breeds & Alaskans, hounds too.

I'm curious to hear what the various class choices are and what distances they run.

The Alaska Skijoring and Pulk Association (ASPA) hosts fun races all season and they basically have almost a "pick your class" type set-up. You can choose one, two, or three dogs, and then you can go any of the many distance choices they have.

The Alaska Dog Mushers Association (ADMA) have a much more structured format. X number of dogs for Y distance. You can choose to take fewer dogs (but not more!) and if you don't go the distance you're DQ'd.

What I like about ASPA is that you must give the names of each and every dog in your team, and they publish that as part of the results! ADMA only lists the name of the driver. (Well, okay, the results would be *profanity auto removed* if you had to name 22 dogs!) But ASPA reminds me that it is the DOGS that are the real team.

There are various classes but the cani-x , junior & bike class are probably only about 1-2 miles only.
I have put a link in my 1st post for you to take a look at.

well we did our race yesterday, we went 2.4 miles in 14 & half minutes, really enjoyed it & kavik ran really well & kept running nearly all the way around, so proud of him for his 1st race.

Kavik ran in another bike class last wkend, he did great , ran past 2 teams without slowing to say hi, very pleased with him as he is really listening to me now & focused on his running. we only got a 5 minute run as the distance was only 1.1 miles, but enjoyable.
