Well I have given up on the idea of buying a Sacco Cart seeing that the only guy who still makes it is in Europe at Saccowagons.
And the problem being that it is way to exspensive for me to even think of buying not even talking about import tax etc...

So this weekend being mothers day, my dad and I had a chat and he is in the mood to build me a 4 wheel cart. So I printed all the photos I had from AK (LynnO's cart) and gave it to him.
He now with his new job has more time on his hands and would like a new project and well his daughter can always keep him intertained with new projects. He wants to build me a dog wagon/box too so that I am able to transport my dogs and the rigs as everything can't safely fit in our truck. But this being said I recently needed to transport 15 dogs. I had to get my dad, Jasper and a friend to bring their trucks and use my crates as all the dogs could not just go in one truck. So for my kennel business in the future this could be good as I can advertise it that I can even transport the dogs to my kennels and back. The good news is that my dad has some second hand material lying around that he is not using, so my exspenses will be limited for the 4 wheel cart. Oh and a client of Jasper's just gave him a mountain bike for free in good condition. The guy who gave it got it from the stuff that his dad left behind. He died a couple of months ago. So now I can go biking with Jasper when he goes jogging and I can let the few people coming for mushing use it seeing as most of them don't have a bike.

But lets take it one step at a time as my money is limited and time well that too.

Ice

Might I suggest that you don't tell people your dad is building you a Sacco Cart?! It's a patented thing I'm pretty sure they could sue you or make trouble for you legally...so tell the world that your dad is GREAT, and that after having made you an AWESOME pink skooter, his is now commissioned to create a four-wheeled dog cart similar to that manufactured by the Sacco Company in Europe. (Sounds more fancy anyway...)

Now I'll confess that my former boss was also frustrated with the high cost of importing an original Sacco cart and he sent one to a guy who took it to a manufacturer in Tiawan, and they immitated it and built him a prototype with the idea that he'd start selling them for way less than a European Sacco cart. It looked good, but it was cheap. It broke easy and wore out fast. I'm thinking your dad can do MUCH better!

Oh, here's a suggestion to improve the design...
Instead of the blocks that push down on the rear tires, have your dad install hand brakes on the handlbar. You can have the blocks for a parking break (although we all know not to get up off the seat as they'll drag away the "parked" cart easy as pie!) But for slowing down while moving, bicycle brakes are smoother and easier to operate and will perhaps do less damage to the tires.

There are also Fritz Dyke carts and skooters, and you might want to research their designs as your dad is a pretty creative and nifty fellow and he might could build you a one-of-a-kind unit that incorporates the best of everything! (Some people don't like the fact that you have to sit down in the Sacco Cart...)

Keep us posted and let us know how it goes! (Photos will be required eventually!!!)

Sorry I was not thinking!!!!

I like a 4 wheel cart that you sit in, it makes me feel safer. You don't get any 4 wheel carts that you can sit in here by us.
I like the recommendation of the brakes-thank you :D

I think it's going to take a lot of time for this project to be finished, but that's okay. It keeps my dad busy which he likes and I am not so that I need to have it now.So even if it takes him a year that's fine too. The thing is I won't spend money on buying a cart at any place at this stage as I don't need it. I have a scooter and now a bike that I can share with others too. But my dad having the machinery and most of the material and wanting to do it to see what he can come up with, I thought why not :D

Will keep you posted.
